If you use Snapchat regularly, you'll want to check out the new 6.1 update which includes new smart filters, special text, and a best friends feature that lets you put up to seven friends in a favorites category of sorts.
The new features aren't anything to write home about but for regular Snapchat users, at least you can add new filters?
All the new features are off by default so in order to enable and start using them, just update the app then hop into settings and then manage. Enable what you'd like and you're good to go. If any regular Snapchat users have grabbed the update, let us know what you think in the comments. I'm not quite understanding what the smart filters feature actually does, so if you figure it out, let us know!
République, a new stealth game for iOS, is now available on the App Store. Taking place in a totalitarian state and exploring themes of censorship, surveillance, and privacy, République tells the story of Hope, a young prisoner being held in the state's Metamorphosis facility. Hope contacts you, asking for help. Your goal is to break Hope out of the complex, hacking into phones, computers, and security cameras in order to move Hope around.
In the upper right corner of the screen, there will usually be a triangle with a closed eye. Tap that to enter a mode that pauses the game and gives you certain abilities. Take control of cameras You can also gather information on different objects and characters within the game. For instance, if you look a character, you can see their name, height, weight, aliases, medical history, and any criminal charges against them.
The game is fully voice acted, with characters voiced by Jennifer Hale, David Hayter, and Rena Strober, among others. The game is fully translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese. République uses Faceware in order to provide console-level facial animations on iOS devices.

Sony had previously promised that the Android 4.3 rollout for certain Xperia phones would begin this month, and now the first two devices on the list are being updated. Android 4.3 for the Sony Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra has started rolling out today, bringing an update from 4.2.2 and some Sony software improvements.
Among the changes are enhanced performance and updates to Sony's suite of built-in apps, such as Messaging, My Xperia, Smart Connect, Small apps, Track ID, Sony Select and the media apps, including Walkman, Album and Movies. As of this release the Xperia Z Ultra also gets access to Sony's "Smart Social Camera" feature from the Z1, which lets the rear camera use Sony's downloadable camera apps. The new firmware also supports downloadable themes through the Xperia Themes system, a feature Sony says it'll expand upon in the future.
The update should be available now for some Z1 and Z Ultra devices, though Sony points out that as with all updates it'll take time to roll out to all regions and carriers. (We're not yet seeing anything on our unlocked UK Z1, for what it's worth.) If you're updating your Xperia Z1 or Z Ultra today, hit the comments and let us know how you're getting on.

Going to FOX for a guest star appearance, Adam Sandler is currently shooting the Super Bowl episode of Fox's new comedy, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."
The show will reunite the 47-year-old comedy king with his real-life friend, Andy Samberg, and insiders state that Adam will not only play himself, but also that the episode is shooting this week.
The show's creator, Mike Schur, commented on the special, saying, "It's very fun. There's a lot of Terry Crews and Andre Braugher together, which I love. The two of them have a big storyline together and they're really, really funny together. And then there's some super Bowl specific stuff but we really just tried to create a really just big, bright, funny, juicy, comedy story."
"We're hoping a lot of people will check out the show for the first time," Schur continued. "Because the entire universe watches the Super Bowl. And so we really just wanted to sort of introduce the characters to a wider audience. We tried to just build a couple stories that are really explaining in the funniest way who everyone is."

Although the issues haven't necessarily been widespread, many who have updated to the latest Hangouts and began using it for text messaging have been running into issues sending and receiving MMS. While this update doesn't specifically go into what the issue was or how it's being fixed, folks who have been having trouble with MMS in Hangouts should be doing better after the update.
MMS isn't just used for pictures though, it is also used for group messaging. Tied into this update is also a new option to turn off MMS group messaging if you'd prefer to have your messages sent to multiple recipients individually.
You can grab the latest update from the Play Store at the link above.
Amazon's latest Kindle Fire HD and HDX tablets support a new wireless printing standard called "Kindle Fire Printing," and Epson is now on-board with the standard. Now if you have one of the new Amazon tablets (with OS 3.11) and an Epson Connect-enabled printer, you can seamlessly send documents, emails and photos between your tablet and that printer with no additional setup.
Epson says that over 60 printers are Epson Connect-enabled, so there's a pretty good chance if you have a late model printer from the manufacturer and a new Kindle you'll have a good chance of this working out of the box. It may not be as robust and supported as Google Cloud Print at the moment, but we can bet that more than a few Kindle Fire HDX owners will be happy about the increased support.

The best alarm clock apps for iPad that are guaranteed to get you out of bed and ready for the day ahead!
Apple didn't always ship a Clock app with the iPad, but added it in with iOS 6, and updated it with iOS 7. The original was based on the famous Swiss Train clock, the new one on general look and feel of iOS 7 in general. Neither really made big, beautiful use of the big, beautiful iPad display. And lets face it, if you keep your iPad on a stand on your desk, beside the bed, or anywhere around the house or office, you might as well enjoy the experience. Luckily, there are lot of fancier options to choose from in the App Store. Here are my current favorite alarm clock apps for the iPad:
Night Stand HD 2 is an alarm with one goal, to get you out of bed and track your sleeping habits. If you've overslept too many days in a row, it gets harder to snooze the alarm. You may be asked to complete patterns by sliding your finger in order to earn your snooze. The most unique thing about Night Stand HD 2 is that it turns waking up into a game where you can earn points and achievements for waking up on time. It's even got Game Center support so you can compete against your friends who are also using Night Stand HD 2.
If you need an incentive or that extra push to get up in the morning, Night Stand HD 2's game play modes and snooze options are definitely worth a hard look.
CARROT Alarm has no mercy and for those that don't like to get out of bed in the morning, CARROT can either train you to do so rather quickly or she will remain your arch nemesis. Either way, CARROT won't fail to get you out of bed. Setup is easy but from there on out, CARROT has no mercy on your soul and will get angry if you don't get out of bed. She'll sing you songs and make you do tasks like shake your iPad in order for the alarm to turn off. Get out of bed, CARROT is happy and rewards you, remain a lazy human, and you'll be punished.
If you need a lot of help getting up in the morning and need an alarm that's persistent, definitely consider CARROT Alarm.
Rise is a simple alarm clock app that isn't anything short of gorgeous. It's completely gesture driven so swipe from side to side in order to turn Rise on or off. Drag the time up and down in order to set your alarm. Then tap above or below in order to fine tune it. Rise supports screen flashes instead of music for the hard of hearing. As for the actual alarm, you can set any song from your iTunes Library you'd like. You can also create a playlist and time it for before you go to bed to put you to sleep.
If you want something simple that isn't overdone or complicated to figure out, Rise is the best bet.
Today is not only an alarm clock that can wake you up with music, it can also dish up morning news to you as you wake up so by the time you're out of bed, you're caught up on news and social feeds. Heck, it can even read it to you if you'd like. Today can link up to news feeds, social sites such as Facebook and Twitter, and to local weather. It's a great time saver for those that like to quickly browse these kinds of things before getting out of bed or leaving the house for the day.
If you want an alarm clock that not only wakes you up but provides you with an update on social, news, and weather for the day, you'll definitely want to pick up Today.
Alarm Clock HD is somewhat versatile since it can be as simple or as informative as you want it to be. Aside from being able to customize the look and feel of the alarm, you can also link up your Twitter, Facebook, and feedbin accounts. Alarm Clock HD will then scroll through tweets and feed info towards the bottom of the alarm. It's easy to set up and easy to use. There's even a flashlight mode so if you need to see the in dark, it's accessible with one tap.
If you want something that acts and behaves like a traditional alarm clock, but with a twist, check out Alarm Clock HD.
These are our favorite picks when it comes to better looking, and just plain funner alarm clock apps for iPad. We know you guys are just as good at finding awesome apps too, so if you're using something different, let us know what it is and why in the comments!
